On the side of the road “hidden in plain sight” just a block away from the Granada-Managua bus station are the ruins of the San Juan del Dios hospital. An abandoned hostpital I stubmbled upon by accident? It was like a glorious dream! I immidiately…abandoned…my plan to go to the city and spent the morning poking around the amazing place.
Despite how dilapidated the hospital is, you can clearly see the remains of the rooms and hallways.
When you step inside the rooms, you can still see cabinets, shelves, and even some bathrooms with tiles in tact.
According to the internet, it was origianlly built in 1905 and abandoned about 100 years thereafter. If it really was still open in 2005, it’s deteriorated a lot since then!
